A touching and funny story:
The story is set in 1976 and revolves around the British teacher Tom Michell, who takes up a new position in Argentina. While the country is undergoing political upheaval, he discovers an abandoned penguin during a walk on the beach and decides to help it. The penguin, whom he names Juan Salvador, quickly becomes a loyal companion and changes Tom´s life in unexpected ways. Although pets are strictly forbidden at his school, the penguin wins over not only Tom´s heart but also those of the students and staff. Through the special friendship with the penguin, Tom learns not only a lot about life in a foreign culture but also about himself and his ability to help others.
